Report : Balogun uninterested in returning to Arsenal to play second fiddle
Published: March 01, 2023
Folarin Balogun is reportedly uninterested in making a return to Arsenal this summer if he is not guaranteed first team football on a regular basis.
Caughtoffside making reference to The Times UK claims that the England U21 international of Nigerian descent won’t settle for coming back to Arsenal and only being third choice up front behind Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
Balogun was loaned out to Stade de Reims last summer after failing to force his way into manager Mikel Arteta's first team plans.
Unbeaten in their last seventeen matches in the Ligue 1, Stade de Reims' success is down to the impressive performances of Balogun to a large degree.
The Arsenal loanee has mustered fifteen goals in the division, a tally bettered only by Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe who is on seventeen goals.
The Gunners will need to make a decision on the future of Balogun at the end of the season, whether to keep, loan, or sell the 21-year-old.
Clubs based in England, Spain, France and Italy are monitoring the situation of the Hale End Academy graduate with a view to swoop.
Balogun will enter the last two years of his contract with Arsenal on July 1, 2023.
