Stats reveal OGC Nice striker Moffi is a better shooter of the ball than Napoli dangerman Osimhen
Published: March 02, 2023
Terem Moffi and Victor Osimhen are the two most prolific Super Eagles strikers in European football at the moment.
Moffi has scored 14 goals in 22 appearances for Lorient and Nice respectively in the Ligue 1 while Osimhen has scored 19 goals in 20 appearances for Napoli in Serie A.
While the Napoli striker has scored more goals than his compatriot, Moffi has been more decisive with his shots.
It will interest you to know that Moffi has had more shots on target this season and more goals from shots on target than Osimhen.
Statistics from Fbref.com have it that 0.59 of Moffi's shots have found the back of the net while 0.54 of Osimhen's.
What this implies is that Moffi has been more dangerous when placing his shots than Osimhen.
It must, however, be noted that Osimhen has played more shots than Moffi because the former plays for Napoli, who create more chances than Moffi's former side, Lorient or his new side, Nice.
So it remains to be seen whether Moffi will still be more decisive with his shots if he plays for a better team.
In any case, this is good news for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as Jose Peseiro can rely on both for goals.
It's a rare privilege to have two prolific strikers in the national team at the same time.
While Victor Osimhen is the first-choice striker, it is good to have a player with Moffi's profile as a backup.
