Flying Eagles-eligible striker in the running for Everton Goal of the Month
Published: March 03, 2023
Flying Eagles-eligible striker Francis Okoronkwo is in the running for Everton's Goal of the Month award for February 2023.
His second half strike against Bristol City in a Premier League Cup match on February 5 has been shortlisted for the Toffees Goal of the Month.
Everton U21s were left with a mountain to climb when they conceded two goals in the opening nine minutes of the contest at Robins High Performance Centre.
But Okoronkwo managed to pull one back three minutes into the second half when he slotted past the onrushing goalkeeper after he was teed up by Katia Kouyate.
Okoronkwo's goal is up against efforts from first team star Seamus Coleman, Troy Smikle-James, Katia Kouyate and Callum Bates.
Everton captain Coleman appears to be the favorite to win the Goal of the Month award, considering the fact that his match-winning strike against Leeds United is also up for the Premier League Goal of the Month.
The Republic of Ireland international fired home from an acute after catching the Leeds United goalie slightly off his line, assisted by Alex Iwobi.
