Arsenal-reared forwards Akpom and Tella nominated for PFA Player of the Month award
Published: March 08, 2023
Two Arsenal-reared forwards in Chuba Akpom and Nathan Tella have been shortlisted for the PFA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month award for February 2023 following their outstanding performances last month.
Akpom started every game played by Middlesbrough in February 2023, five in total, and was in action for 449 minutes, contributing to four wins as well as scoring five goals.
The Hale End Academy product registered his name on the scoresheet in matches against Blackpool, Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield United.
Akpom is aiming to win the PFA Vertu Motors Fans' Player of the Month award for the third time this season, having won it in November and January and was also nominated in December.
Southampton loanee Tella started six of the seven games played by Burnley in all competitions in February, scoring five goals including his first hat-trick as a professional in a 3-0 win versus Preston North End.
The 23-year-old bagged a brace as the Clarets claimed a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup on February 7.
Akpom and Tella face stiff competition for the monthly award in the form of Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City), Tom Bradshaw (Millwall), Tom Ince (Reading) and Joel Piroe (Swansea City).
