Chelsea ahead of Arsenal in race for talented Golden Eaglets-eligible winger
Published: March 08, 2023
Chelsea are reportedly in the driving seat to sign talented Golden Eaglets-eligible forward Trevan Sanusi.
Football Insider is reporting that Chelsea are in pole position to sign Birmingham City teenage sensation Sanusi ahead of their Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Championship club Birmingham City are in danger of losing the Anglo-Nigerian as they have failed to convince him to sign a new contract ahead of next season.
Sanusi turns sixteen next month, meaning he is eligible to sign a scholarship deal with an English club with effect from July 1, 2023.
Several Premier League clubs have sent their talent spotters to run the rule over Sanusi this season with a view to a potential swoop, and the scouting reports on the prospect were excellent.
Described as a versatile forward who can also be deployed as a winger, Sanusi has already made his full debuts for Birmingham City's U18s and development squad while still a schoolboy.
He has earned caps for the Young Lions at U15 and U16 levels, and was included in the traveling squad to Cyprus last month for the UEFA Development Tournament.
