Published: March 14, 2023
Through their official website, Everton have revealed their top ten fastest goals scored in the Premier League following Dwight McNeil's sumptuous strike after just 35 seconds of the Toffees clash with Brentford.
Super Eagles players past and present including Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Joseph Yobo, Victor Anichebe, Daniel Amokachi, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi have scored for Everton in the Premier League.
Of the aforementioned Nigerian players, Yakubu Aiyegbeni holds the record for the quickest goal scored by a Nigerian for Everton.
Aiyegbeni opened the scoring with a brilliant header 47 seconds into Everton's 3-1 win over his former employers Portsmouth at Goodison Park on March 2, 2008.
In Everton's history in the Premier League, only nine players have managed to score quicker goals than the Super Eagles legend.
The fastest ever was recorded by John Ebbrell, who netted in the 23rd second against Wimbledon on January 1, 1996.
Completing the top ten are Tom Davies, Romelu Lukaku, David Unsworth, Dwight Mcneil, Olivier Darcourt, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Kevin Campbell and Nick Barmby.
Overall, Aiyegbeni notched 33 goals during his spell at Everton comprising 25 in the Premier League, 4 in the League Cup and another four in the UEFA Cup.
