Watch : Flying Eagles-eligible winger scores Chelsea Goal of the Season contender
Published: April 22, 2023
Flying Eagles-eligible winger Tyrique George has put himself in the spotlight after scoring a stunning equalizer for Chelsea in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in an U18 Premier League clash staged at Cobham Training Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The second half strike by the England underage international is certainly a contender for Chelsea's Goal of the Season award.
George's strike brought the home team back into the game and ensured Chelsea U18s, who are coached by a Nigerian Hassan Sulaiman, are unbeaten in their last five games in the U18 Premier League.
In the 63rd minute, the Anglo-Nigerian was 35 yards away from goal when he unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew past goalkeeper Izquierdo and into the top corner.
This season, George has scored four goals in all competitions for Chelsea U18 side, including a brace against Everton in the U18 Premier League Cup in October 2022.
Kalidou Koulibaly, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher, Cesare Casadei, Mason Mount, Sam Kerr, Lauren James and Kai Havertz have all won Chelsea's Goal of the Month this season.
