Confirmed: 2021 Super Falcons invitee released by Watford
Published: June 01, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Watford have announced the departure of six players in their women's team following the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.
Among those leaving the Hornets is 2021 Super Falcons invitee Adekite Fatuga-Dada, who returned for a second spell with the club in 2015.
Adekite Fatuga-Dada was the longest-serving player in the Watford squad and departs the Golden Girls after 113 appearances in which she contributed sixteen goals and consistently led the assists charts.
The Anglo-Nigerian made her Watford debut against Doncaster Rovers Belles in August 2015.
She was vital to promotion under Clinton Lancaster in the curtailed 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons and was one of the first names on the team sheet in 2021-2022, but injures limited her appearances in the recently concluded season.
Fatuga-Dada initially joined Watford at the age of eleven through the Watford Community Sports & Education Trust as a youngster, before a brief spell at Arsenal, with whom she won the FA Youth Cup.
The 26-year-old can play on the wing or in a central role and is known for her playmaking abilities.
