Chelsea still keen on Osimhen despite imminent signing of Villarreal's African striker
Published: June 19, 2023Chelsea are still keen on signing Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen despite closing in on a deal to sign Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson.
As reported by 90min.com, Chelsea will still like to add Osimhen to their ranks despite the potential arrival of Jackson as they seek to bolster the attacking department.
Jackson scored 12 goals in 26 matches for Villarreal in La Liga last season with 9 of them coming in the last 12 games and could be the Blues' first signing of the summer transfer window.
While the London-based club still maintain an interest in Osimhen, they are worried that his 150 million euros )valuation could make it difficult to strike a deal with Napoli.
The Nigerian striker has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe having bagged 31 goals in all competitions last season.
He also continued that form in the colours of the Super Eagles as he netted a brace in Nigeria's 3-2 win over Sierra Leone in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers yesterday.
The 24-year-old is also a priority target for French Ligue 1 Champions PSG as they seek to bolster their attacking options.
