Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has revealed what Kyle Walker told him after beating the Manchester City fullback for pace during Nottingham Forest 2-0 loss to the Citizens in a Premier League clash at the City Ground last month.
The Cobham product has been a mainstay in the starting lineup of the two-time European champions since the start of the season, featuring prominently under the club's previous manager Steve Cooper and the present one Nuno Espírito Santo.
Thus, it was no surprise to see him start against Manchester City and he featured for the entirety of the game with the highlight of his performance being his foot race with Walker.
The Premier League official X account picked up the moment as the Nigeria international picked up the ball in his own half and breezed past the England international to the surprise of many.
Speaking in an interview with the Guardian UK, the former Torino defender spoke about how the incident occurred and revealed how Walker was also taken aback by his pace.
"Even though that clip shows I got past him, it wasn't as easy as it may have looked. I remember when it happened I saw him and thought, I might as well just try it and I put everything into it. "
"Afterwards, he said something like, you're pretty quick and you caught me flat-footed, but he was very chilled about it. He's done the same thing to other players so many times."
The 27-year-old has made 21 appearances across all competitions for Forest this season and has registered a goal and an assist.
His contract with ends in the summer but the club has the option to extend it for a further year which hasn't been done at the moment.
