Chelsea to sign African striker for eight years
Published: June 25, 2023Nicolas Jackson's transfer to Chelsea is close to being completed with the Senegal international completing a medical examination.
Less than six months after a failed transfer to Bournemouth, the African center forward is set to join another Premier League club.
According to Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano, Jackson underwent the first part of his Chelsea medical on Saturday and the second was today, Sunday.
The 22-year-old will put pen to paper on an eight year contract with Chelsea valid until June 30, 2031.
Villarreal will receive 37 million euros from the sale of Jackson to Chelsea, an amount slightly higher than the striker's release clause but with favorable payment terms.
Chelsea will have a busy transfer window as they are expected to offload players who are not in the plans of new manager Mauricio Pochettino , but at the same time the squad must be strengthened.
Jackson would become the second player of African descent signed by Chelsea in the summer transfer window after Christopher Nkunku who was acquired from RB Leipzig.
