Official: Chelsea product Aina joins Nottingham Forest on 1-year deal with options for the future
Published: July 22, 2023Through a statement on their official website, Premier League club Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Chelsea-reared fullback Ola Aina.
The Super Eagles player becomes Nottingham Forest's first summer signing after putting pen to paper on a one-year contract.
The Reds stated that there is a possibility of extending Aina's contract without specifying the duration of the agreement.
The former England U19 captain is returning to England four years after he ended his association with boyhood club Chelsea, whom he joined at U11 level.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, he won the prestigious FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League on two occasions each plus the U21 Premier League, while making six appearances for the first team.
Aina has also played for Torino, Hull City and Fulham, for whom he made 31 appearances in the Premier League in 2020-2021 and scored two goals.
In his first words as a player of Nottingham Forest, he told the club's official website: "I'm very excited to be here and I can't wait to get started.
"I wanted to be back on English soil again and Forest is a club which has an exciting project and team.
"The manager as well, what he wants from the team is something which I want to buy into. He's told me it's a family club, he's told me we have a great bunch of players and he's told me I'll enjoy it here."
Aina is the third Nigeria international acquired by Nottingham Forest since they returned to the Premier League, after Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis.
