'Play Danilo' - Pundit urges Rangers boss to axe Dessers from starting XI to face Servette

Scottish Daily Mail reporter Stephen McGowan has said that it may now be unavoidable for Rangers' manager Michael Beale to drop Cyriel Dessers for Danilo Pereira.

Dessers has had a mixed start to his career at Rangers which has not been well-received by the fans.

He missed a golden opportunity to open his league account in the 4-0 win over Livingston in the Scottish Premiership over the weekend and the fans were heard booing him.

He has also come under scrutiny from the media for his unconvincing performances.

Despite being responsible for scoring the Gers' second goal against Servette in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, it has been suggested that he should be replaced by Danilo ahead of the second leg tomorrow.

McGowan believes that the Brazilian was more effective when he was shifted to the central forward role after Dessers was substituted against Livingston and should be given the nod for tomorrow's encounter.

While writing for Scottish Daily Mail which was cited by Ibrox News, he said: "The arrival of [Rabbi] Matondo on the left saw Danilo move inside where the Brazilian seemed to come alive.

"Signed from Cremonese for £4.5m, a decision to leave out Dessers and play Danilo through the middle may now be unavoidable."

The Nigerian forward has started all three competitive games so far for the Scottish giants and has recorded only one goal.
