Tottenham fullback Udogie joins Chelsea and Barcelona stars, 8 others in U21 TOTW Europe's top 5 leagues
Published: August 29, 2023
Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie has been named in Whoscored's U21 European Top 5 Leagues Team of the Week.
He was chosen alongside Chelsea right-back, Malo Gusto, Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal and eight others.
The list consists of the most impressive U21 players from the Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and La Liga from last weekend.
The 20-year-old got himself into the team as a result of his performance for Spurs in their victory over Bournemouth as he bagged an assist in the encounter.
Udogie and Gusto were the only Premier League players included which comes as no surprise as both were also included in Alan Shearer's Premier League team of the week.
The Bundesliga and Serie A had the most representatives with 3 apiece, the Premier League and La Liga contributed two players each, and the French Ligue 1 one.
Below is the full list:
Goalkeeper: Filip Jörgensen (Villarreal)
Defenders: Malo Gusto (Chelsea), Destiny Udogie (Tottenham), Ilario Monterisi (Frosinone), Radu Matei Drăgușin (Genoa)
Midfielders: Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig), Florian Wirtz (Bayern Leverkusen), Lazar Samardžić (Udinese)
Forwards: Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Oumar Diakité (Reims), Maximilian Beier (Hoffenheim)
