West Brom target new striker to provide cover for injured Nigeria international
Published: December 18, 2023West Brom are said to be eying a replacement for the injured striker Josh Maja who is set to spend the next four months on the sidelines.
According to Mirror UK, the Championship side will be in the market to sign a new forward when the transfer window opens next month due to their decimated attack.
The Baggies won't be only without Maja for a lengthy time but will also miss the services of Matt Phillips who got injured in their loss to Leicester earlier this month.
Maja picked up an angle ligament injury in West Brom's loss to Sunderland after a challenge from Dan Ballard and won't be available until the tail end of the Championship season.
The 24-year-old has been in unlucky with injuries since his arrival at the Hawthorns in the summer and has made just nine appearances in the Championship.
His injury would come as a big blow for Carlos Corberán who must have been hoping that he could rely on the Nigerian striker heading into a crucial stage of the season.
The West Midlands side have been relegated to the Championship since 2020/2021 and are seeking to regain promotion come the end of this season.
