Chelsea striker managed by Nigerian agent recalled from loan spell
Published: January 11, 2024
According to a statement published on their official website Chelsea have announced that Ivorian striker David Fofana ,who is being managed by Nigerian agent Atta Aneke, has been recalled from his loan term with Union Berlin.
Fofana joined the Bundesliga outfit on a season-long loan last summer but with him failing to impress at the German capital, the Blues have decided to terminate the contract.
The 21-year-old made 17 appearances across all competitions for Union Berlin and notched just two goals, 1 in the Bundesliga and the other in the UEFA Champions League.
The Ivory Coast international is still expected to leave Stamford Bridge this month on another loan deal.
While Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja have failed to impress in front of goal, it appears that Chelsea don't consider the former Molde striker ready to play for the club.
He joined the two-time European champions in January 2023 but struggled for minutes and embarked on a loan spell to Union Berlin in search of regular game time.
Since joining Chelsea he has made just 4 appearances across all competitions and is yet to register a goal involvement.
With the Blues' continuous link to a proven striker particularly Nigeria international Victor Osimhen, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Fofana.
