Official: Super Eagles striker extends contract with Danish Superliga club Randers
Published: January 11, 2024
With a statement on their official website, Danish Superliga club Randers announced on Thursday that Super Eagles striker Stephen Odey has extended his contract with the East Jutland outfit.
Odey's former contract at Randers would have expired at the end of the season but he has now committed his future to the club, with his new deal expiring in the winter of 2025.
The former Mountain of Fire sensation joined Randers on a season-long loan deal in August 2021 and the deal came with an option to buy him from Racing Genk.
Three months later, Randers activated the option to make his loan move permanent and in doing so, he became the most expensive purchase in the club's history.
Commenting on his new contract at Randers, Odey said: "It feels really good to have extended my contract with the team. I know the boys well by now, and they know me, so it felt completely natural to stay at Randers FC. It's a club I feel incredibly good at, both with fans, players and staff.
"We have a really strong camaraderie in the team, and it feels like being part of a family. I am sure that we can achieve good results together, and I look forward to what we can accomplish together in the next time."
Odey was named Player of the Month in the Superliga for October 2021, a month in which he netted six goals in all competitions comprising three in the league, two in the Europa Conference League and one in the Danish Cup..
