'I'm getting there' - Super Eagles midfielder Ndidi expects to be back sooner rather than later
Published: January 23, 2024
Leicester City has been given an injury boost with the latest update given by Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi on his injury.
Ndidi suffered a serious muscle injury which has kept him out of action for the Foxes since the start of the year and cost him his spot in the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The midfielder has undergone surgery on the injury and was supposed to be out till April but could now be set to return to action sooner than expected, according to a statement made by him.
Speaking on Sky Sports via Leicestershire Live during the coverage of the Foxes' Championship encounter with Ipswich on Monday night, the 27-year year provided an update on his injury.
"The injury's alright, I'm getting there. It's two weeks post-surgery. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I'll be back."
Asked if that was a couple of weeks until he was training or playing, he added: "A couple of weeks to play."
The Super Eagles midfielder has been a vital player for Enzo Maresca's side this season and his absence has been felt in the games has missed with Leicester City winning just 3 of the seven league games he has not played.
Ndidi has improved his game offensively this term with Maresca playing him in a more offensive role and that explains why his goal-contribution tally is on the rise having registered 10-goal contributions across all competitions already.
