Back in Europe: Arsenal youth team product Akinola joins Portuguese top-flight club subject to medical
Published: January 30, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Arsenal youth product Tim Akinola is returning to Europe less than five months after his departure from the Emirates Stadium to join Qatargas League.team Al Bidda SC..
The 2022 Nigeria's Olympic National Team invitee has already agreed personal terms with Portuguese top-flight club C.F. Estrela da Amadora.
Akinola has mutually terminated his contract with Al Bidda SC, paving the way for him to join C.F. Estrela da Amadora as a free agent and will travel to Portugal on Wednesday, January 31 to formalize his transfer to his new club.
Subject to a traditional medical, the 22-year-old will put pen to paper on a two-year contract at C.F. Estrela da Amadora with an option for an additional year.
Estrela da Amadora have pulled off a transfer coup by luring the central midfielder to Amadora, beating off stiff competition from Saudi Arabian and Qatari teams.
Al-Khor SC offered Akinola a three-year contract which he eventually rejected
The offer was financially tempting but the player's love for European football made him turn down the proposal in favour of a move to Estrela da Amadora.
After nineteen matches in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Estrela da Amadora are sitting fourteenth in the table with 18 points ahead of their next game in the division at Estoril on February 4.
