Liverpool monitoring Nigerian central defender ahead of summer transfer window
Published: January 30, 2024
According to a report from Daily Mail's Transfer Confidential, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Super Eagles-eligible defender Tosin Adarabioyo whose future with Fulham is hanging in the balance at the moment.
The Reds are said to have been impressed with the performance of the Manchester City youth product during their two-legged semifinal clash with Fulham in the Carabao Cup earlier this month.
The 19-time English champions are preparing to bolster their defensive department with a signing of a new centre-back in the summer and Adarabioyo is one of the players on their target list.
The recent statement of club's skipper Virgil van Dijk on his future following the exit announcement of Jurgen Klopp has made it more imperative for the Anfield outfit to sign a central defender at the end of the season.
Adarabioyo is into the final months of his contract with Fulham and there are no indications that he will sign a contract extension with the Cottagers as of yet.
While the London-based side risk losing the Anglo-Nigerian defender for free in the summer, it doesn't appear that they are willing to let him leave this month with the transfer window set to close on Thursday.
