Published: May 19, 2024
Following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season, Championship club Millwall published their retained and released list through their official website on Saturday with contract decisions made on four players of Nigerian descent.
The Lions have confirmed that former England U17 international Abdul Abdulmalik is among the U21 players released.
Abdulmalik is leaving Millwall upon th expiry of his contract on June 30, 2024 without making his senior debut.
He spent the first half of the 2023-2024 season on loan at Vanarama National League side Wealdstone, where he appeared in nine matches in the fifth tier of English football.
Abdulmalik had a breakout 2022-2023 campaign, scoring sixteen goals as the Lions youth team won the double.
Another U21 player Chinwike Okoli has been offered a new contract after an impressive loan spell at Bromley for whom he scored two goals in twenty outings from his center-back position.
Although Okoli has yet to make his senior debut for Millwall, the promising defender has been promoted to first team training several times.
From the U18s, Christopher Ojemen and Adedapo Olugbodi are set to embark on new chapters in their careers following their release by Millwall.
Ojemen joined Millwall in the summer of 2017 from a grassroots club based in South East London.
