Al-Ahli target Osimhen to discuss Napoli future with his agent after Chelsea snub
Published: June 12, 2024
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Victor Osimhen will meet with his agent Robert Calenda to discuss his future with Napoli following Arsenal and Chelsea's withdrawal of interest in his services as well as Al Ahli's interest.
The 25-year-old finds himself at a crossroad after the Blues withdrew their interest in him with the London club focusing on signing younger strikers like Benjamin Šeško who has now committed his future to RB Leipzig.
Osimhen is determined to leave Napoli this summer and has set his sights on the Premier League but that now looks difficult with Chelsea's decision to look elsewhere in their search for a striker.
It also appears that PSG and Arsenal have cooled their interest, leaving Al-Ahli as the remaining interested club in him with the Saudi-based side ready to pay his release clause if he decides to join them.
Speaking in his Daily Briefing for Caughtoffside, Romano revealed that the Super Eagles forward will meet with his agent in the coming days to discuss his future.
"I've had some Chelsea fans asking me again about Victor Osimhen as this story has seemed quiet recently. I still see Osimhen leaving, but at the moment the reality is that it is quiet, so we can only wait and see what happens," Romano said.
"Osimhen will meet with his agent in the next days to assess all the options and decide what's best for him. Osimhen's priority remains to leave Napoli this summer, the plan has not changed."
Osimhen's desire to leave Napoli is also not being helped by Napoli's determined stance to get interested clubs pay his €130m release clause.
The Serie A giants plan on using the proceeds from the sale of the reigning African Player of the Year to fortify their squad ahead of next season.
