Udinese block attempts from Torino to sign Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye
Published: August 10, 2024
Udinese are not ready to let go of Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye who is wanted by Torino and have previously been linked with Serie A defending champions Inter Milan.
According to Italian transfer market guru Alfredo Pedulla, the Bianconeri have blocked Torino's attempt to sign the German-born glovesman, indicating that they are willing to keep him beyond this summer.
It appears Torino are not confident with their first-choice goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and want to sign Okoye who had a brilliant end to last campaign as his replacement.
The 24-year-old played no small role in ensuring that Torino maintained their spot in the Serie A with his fine form between the sticks, keeping two clean sheets and conceding three goals in the last five league games.
The Nigeria international display attracted the interest of Inter Milan who eventually opted to sign Josep Martínez and is now being courted by Torino.
Okoye's contract with Udinese runs till 2027 which means it would take an irresistible offer for the Italian outfit to relinquish his services in the current window.
He was in goal yesterday when the Udine-based club thrashed lower division side Avellino 4-0 in the first round of the Coppa Italia.
