'Not a package to be shipped far away' - Osimhen's agent insists African POTY is not joining Al Ahli
Published: August 26, 2024
Victor Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, has dismissed the chances of the striker leaving Europe this summer amid concrete interest from Al Ahli.
As reported late last night by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Ahli submitted a bid in excess of €65m for the Super Eagles forward and were close to reaching an agreement with Napoli.
The Saudi Pro-League club are the only side that have come close to reaching an agreement for the striker but are yet to discuss with him on the possibility of joining the club as stated in Romano's report.
Napoli need to offload the Nigerian star before completing a deal for Romelu Lukaku and would have thought they had found a way of getting rid of the former with the bid received from Al Ahli.
However, Calenda has come out to state that his client is not interested in a move to the Saudi Pro-League and deserves more respect from the Parthenopeans.
In a statement he released on X, the Italian agent said: "Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction.
"He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club's decisions.
"As I said, it is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets.
"Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon d'Or, he still has so much to do in Europe. There is need respect and balance."
Osimhen is not in Conte's plan at the moment as he is determined to leave Napoli and the Italian tactician has also moved on, which explains the interest in Lukaku.
With a few days before the end of the transfer window, a compromise will have to be reached between the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner and Napoli for this imbroglio to come to an end.
