'It's a TikTok trend' - Bayer Leverkusen striker Boniface explains strange pants down celebration

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has explained why he pulled down his pants each time he found the back of the net during Bayer Leverksuen's 4-1 rout of Hoffenheim in a Bundesliga clash on Saturday afternoon.
Boniface doubled Bayer Leverkusen's advantage in the 30th minute and dropped his pants to expose his white cycling shorts on the touchline.
He then started dancing before his teammates joined in the celebration and afterward, he pulled his pants back up.
Boniface scored for the first time this season in the Bundesliga after blanking against Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig.
His strange celebration after each goal quickly captured the attention of football enthusiasts.
Addressing the unusual celebration after the match, Boniface clarified that it was not intended to provoke anyone, adding that
the celebration was inspired by a TikTok trend popularized by a Nigerian influencer.
"I don't want to provoke anyone with it. I only did it in front of our own fans," Boniface told Sky Germany via WELT.
"It's a TikTok trend from a Nigerian influencer, and he's a big influencer. He choreographed the dance and asked me if I could do it. I told him: no problem.
"I would have done it in the first two games, but I hadn't scored a goal yet. And when I did score, it was time to keep my promise."
Boniface goals and assist are expected to boost his confidence as he looks to rediscover the form that saw him score 21 goals and provide 10 assists last season.
His contributions were pivotal in Leverkusen's success in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and their run to the UEFA Europa League final.
