What to expect as Juventus face Lazio in first game after international break
Published: October 15, 2024We are heading to Turin where Juventus will host Lazio in a game from the 8th round of the Serie A. Our advice is to keep up with us and our best soccer tips today. Let’s get to work!
Juventus are the only unbeaten team in Italy so far, but they need to step up their game - Thiago Motta’s team made four draws in the last five rounds. Because of this Juve are not topping the standings - they are third with 13 points and this puts them three points behind the leader Napoli.
Before the international break Juventus made their 4th draw for the 2024/25 season. The Old Lady hosted Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium, but the match only ended 1-1. Dusan Vlahovic put Juve ahead from a penalty kick, but in the 88th minute Cagliari also got a penalty and put the ball in the net.
Thiago Motta was not happy at all with the result against Cagliari. The had coach is aware that Juventus must win these matches if they want to become champions. And lately they are not doing it.
What could Motta change in Juventus’ team against Lazio? A look at their bench shows us that he has some good options. Douglas Luiz could be a good inclusion in midfield while the Turkish international Kenan Yildiz is always ready to start and cause some havoc on the wings.
One of Juventus’ players won’t be playing against Lazio, though. This is the Portuguese international Francisco Conceicao who got sent off against Cagliari.
Lazio are just one position behind Juventus in the Serie A standings. The Biancocelesti are 4th in the table with 13 points - the same as Juventus. But their current form looks better - three wins in the last four matches.
Before the break Lazio achieved their 4th win for the season. The capital team hosted Empoli and did enough to achieve success - 2-1. It was the Spanish veteran Pedro who secured the win for Lazio with a very late winner in the 84th minute. Before him Mattia Zaccagni scored for the hosts.
Lazio’s head coach Marco Baroni is aware that his team wasn’t perfect against Empoli - Lazio could have been more convincing against its opponent. And now the challenge is bigger - a trip to Turin.
The midfield will be Lazio’s most important structure against Juventus. It means that players like Matteo Guendouzi and Nicolo Rovella will have to be at the top of their game. Meanwhile Boulaye Dia is expected to start behind the striker Valentin Castellanos.
Alessio Romagnoli is the leader in Lazio’s defense. The 29-years old center-back is very experienced, and he’s the reason why Lazio are often very competent in defense.
That’s the best soccer tips today for the Serie A derby between Juventus and Lazio at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Juve are still unbeaten in the league, but lately they are hardly winning their games. At the same time Lazio are in good shape, but they are underdogs against the Bianconeri. It’s going to be a nice game!
