Premier League top tackler: Man Utd, Chelsea, Crystal Palace stars overtake Ndidi after latest games
Published: November 11, 2024
Manchester United fullback Noussair Mazraoui, Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo and Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Muñoz have overtaken Wilfred Ndidi in the chart for most tackles made in the Premier League this term.
The Super Eagles midfielder was leading the chart after matchday eight, having made 32 tackles and despite that tally rising to 36, it is not enough for him to lead the chart.
After the conclusion of last weekend's games, Mazraoui has become the player with the most tackles in the English top-tier division, having made 39 tackles; Caicedo sits second with 38, same as Daniel Muñoz while Ndidi is the next in the standings.
The 27-year-old played the entire game as Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon as Ruud van Nistelrooy bowed out of his position as the Red Devils’ interim boss in style.
The result has placed the Foxes in 15th position on the standings, just three points ahead of a relegation spot with Steve Cooper now needing the experience and quality of Ndidi to survive as the manager of the former Premier League champions till the end of the season.
Cooper will be hoping the veteran midfielder comes back in good physical condition as he is now expected to join up with the rest of his Super Eagles colleagues ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
