After pulling out of Super Eagles squad for Rwanda clash, Lookman called up for Parma v Atalanta
Published: November 22, 2024Ademola Lookman has been named in the Atalanta squad for their Serie A matchday 13 clash with Parma at Ennio Tardini Stadium on Saturday.
The in-form winger missed the Super Eagles 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final qualification fixture with Rwanda on Monday due to lack of fitness.
The 2013 AFCON champions interim coach Austin Eguavoen had revealed during his pre-match conference ahead of the clash with Rwanda that Lookman had to be released from the clamp as he was not fully fit.
Apparently, the 27-year-old is back to full fitness, thus his presence in the Atalanta squad for tomorrow's clash.
The 2023/2024 UEFA Europa League champions head into the weekend fixture with just one point adrift of table-toppers Napoli, and Lookman has played no small role in their blistering start to the season.
The Nigeria international has six goals and four assists in nine games in the Italian top-flight and Gian Piero Gasperini will be hoping he can continue with his brilliant form throughout the campaign.
Lookman helped Atalanta win their first-ever Europa League title last season and will need to be consistent for the Bergamo-based club to stand a chance of winning their first Serie A trophy.
The Black and Blues have two major titles in their cabinet: the Europa League, which they won last season, and the Coppa Italia, which they clinched in the 1962/1963 season.
