'The football there is amazing' - Lookman not ruling out La Liga move amid Real Madrid rumours
Published: December 12, 2024
Ademola Lookman has refused to rule out a move to La Liga amid rumours linking the Atalanta forward with a transfer to European champions Real Madrid.
It has been claimed that Real Madrid are looking to bolster their attack next season, and those upstairs at Los Blancos are considering the possibility of signing the Nigeria international next summer.
French champions Paris Saint-Germain plus teams in the Premier League, including West Ham United, are believed to be monitoring the situation of the Ballon d'Or and African Footballer of the Year nominee.
Lookman's future has been the subject of intense speculation over the last seven months or so due to his outstanding form for Atalanta, whom he helped win the Europa League with a sensational hat-trick in the showpiece against Bayer Leverkusen.
The 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup winner has yet to sign a contract extension with the Nerazzurri, with the current agreement between club and player set to run out at the end of next season.
Lookman emphasized that the attacking philosophy adopted by most top clubs in La Liga complements his playing style.
When asked about the prospect of playing in La Liga someday, Lookman shared his thoughts with Sporty TV.: "The football there is just amazing, the quality is there, you see it with the top teams. The football is great but those thoughts are of the future.
"You always want to play at the highest level. You want to achieve a lot and when the time is right we shall see.
"All the top teams in the world play attractive football so that's good to me. Attacking football is always attractive so it's good for me as a forward to want to score goals and make goals for my teammates."
When asked to make a choice between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Lookman responded: “I don't know”.
Although Atalanta lost 3-2 to Real Madrid in a Champions League match on Tuesday, Lookman's standout performance earned him the man-of-the-match honors.
