Boavista playing hardball over the sale of Super Eagles defender Onyemaechi to Trabzonspor
Published: January 16, 2025
Liga Portugal side Boavista are reportedly playing hardball over the sale of Nigeria international Bruno Onyemaechi to Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor, according to Fotomac via A Spor.
The 25-year-old defender has been a standout performer for Boavista this season, scoring two goals in seventeen league appearances and contributing to his team's efforts with his solid displays.
Onyemaechi's versatility, which allows him to play as a centre-back or wingback, has made him a target for several European clubs, with Trabzonspor among his admirers.
Boavista have accepted a 2.5 million euros offer from Trabzonspor for the Nigerian defender, but are insisting on receiving the payment upfront.
Trabzonspor are unwilling to meet Boavista's demand, instead preferring to pay the transfer fee in installments.
Despite this disagreement, the Turkish club are still interested in signing Onyemaechi, who is reportedly keen on joining Trabzonspor.
Surprisingly, the fullback has reportedly been pressuring Boavista to let him go.
Onyemaechi has also been gathering information about Trabzonspor and the city, with Malheiro his former teammate at Boavista, providing him with valuable information.
The Nigerian defender's future remains the subject of intense speculation, with clubs from the United States, Italy, Brazil and Mexico also monitoring his situation.
However, Trabzonspor are seemingly in the driving seat to sign Onyemaechi in the January transfer window, as it stands.
