Nantes coach reveals what makes Moses Simon special as forward nets fifth goal of the season
Published: January 19, 2025
Antoine Kombouaré, the head coach of FC Nantes, has revealed what makes Moses Simon special following the match against Saint-Etienne on Sunday night, noting that the forward brings versatility to the squad.
The Super Eagles dazzler is capable of playing on both wings, as a center forward, second striker and even as a wingback if required.
Moses scored his fifth league goal of the season as Saint-Etienne managed to hold Nantes to a 1-1 draw at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium.
The Nigerian international put Nantes ahead in the 14th minute by intercepting a header from Appiah before unleashing a powerful shot with his left foot.
Saint-Etienne equalized through Augustine Boakye, who unleashed a stunning long-range strike that beat Nantes goalkeeper Lopes.
Despite Simon's early contribution, Nantes could not secure all three points.
In his post-match press conference, Kombouaré highlighted and lauded Simon's versatility and impact on the team.
"On the left, there's Simon. He played the game we expected of him. He's capable of playing anywhere," Kombouaré was quoted as saying by the official website of Nantes.
Nigerian international Moses Simon has been pivotal for Nantes in their relegation battle, contributing to 10 goals this season with five goals and five assists in 16 league appearances.
Currently sitting 15th on the Ligue 1 table with 17 points from 18 matches, Nantes will look to build on Simon's form as they aim to climb further away from the relegation zone in the second half of the season.
