Monaco's interest in Ndidi: Super Eagles midfielder makes decision over Leicester City future
Published: January 27, 2025
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi will not be leaving Leicester City in the January transfer window.
French Ligue 1 club Monaco are in the market for a central midfielder and considered loaning the Nath Boys product for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season with an option to buy.
Ndidi has decided to stay put at the Foxes despite interest from the Principality side, who could be playing Champions League football next season as they currently sit third in the Ligue 1 standings.
No personal terms were discussed with Monaco, which proves that the Super Eagles star is committed to Leicester City even though they are facing challenging times in the Premier League.
Leicester City are currently seventeenth in the league standings, holding a slim one-point advantage over the relegation zone with fifteen matches left to play.
Ndidi has vowed to assist Leicester City beat the drop, instead of seeking a move during the winter transfer window.
Sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove, the 28-year-old is nearing a return to fitness.
Last summer, Ndidi rejected the advances of Premier League and La Liga teams to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium, signing a new contract until June 2027.
Since his arrival at Leicester City, he has made 289 appearances in all competitions, scoring eighteen goals.
