Done deal: Akor Adams joins Iheanacho, Ejuke at Sevilla; inks contract until 2029
Published: January 27, 2025
Sevilla have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Akor Adams from Montpellier, the official club website announced on Monday.
The 24-year-old forward has penned a contract that will keep him at the club until 2029, marking a significant addition to the team.
Adams was in attendance at Sevilla's match against RCD Espanyol on Saturday, his first day as part of the club.
Adams arrives from Montpellier, where he had been playing since August 2023.
This season, he has made 15 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
His performances in France followed a successful stint with Lillestrøm SK, where he impressed in Norway’s top division, the Eliteserien.
In the 2023 season, Adams netted 17 goals in just 17 matches, capturing attention across Europe and placing himself at the top of the European Golden Shoe standings.
This form was a continuation of his rapid rise in European football, having made his initial move to Europe in 2018 from Nigeria’s Jamba Football Academy to Sogndal IL, a second-tier Norwegian club.
His impressive record in Norway paved the way for his move to Montpellier, where he continued to develop as a key player in Ligue 1.
On the international stage, Adams has represented Nigeria at youth level, playing twice for the Under-20s at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
Akor Adams joins Nigeria internationals Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho at Sevilla, though the latter has been linked with a departure from the Andalusian outfit in the January transfer window.
