Ex-Liverpool LB calls out Ipswich GK for mistake that led to Aribo's goal, praises Onuachu's heroics

Former Liverpool left back Stephen Warnock has criticized Ipswich Town goalkeeper Arijanet Muric for his mistake that led to Joe Aribo's goal in Southampton 2-1 win over Ipswich on Saturday evening.
Aribo put Southampton ahead in the 21st minute, firing a shot directly at Muric, who failed to make a routine save. The error drew criticism from football analysts and fans alike.
Speaking on BBC Final Score, Warnock did not hold back in his assessment of the goalkeeper's performance.
"It's really poor from Muric," Warnock said. "He was brought back into the team today and I wondered if it was going to be looked into an offside but that is really poor goalkeeping and is an error."
The goal was Aribo's third in 23 league appearances this season, highlighting his growing influence as Southampton battles to avoid relegation.
However, Ipswich found an equalizer through Liam Delap, who skipped past Jan Bednarek before finishing confidently.
Meanwhile, Paul Onuachu capitalized on a rebound after Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric spilled a low strike from Kamaldeen Sulemana, calmly tapping the ball into the net.
Reacting to the goal, Stephen Warnock praised Onuachu's sharp reaction and composure in front of goal.
"Such is the speed at which the shot comes in, it is a difficult one for Muric. He is going to his left and drops down to his right-hand side," Warnock said.
"Credit to Onuachu, who is quick and alive and gets there ahead of Greaves. Huge goal for Southampton."
Aribo has struggled for consistency since his standout performances for Rangers in the 2021/2022 season, where he played a crucial role in their UEFA Europa League campaign, finishing as runners-up to Eintracht Frankfurt.
With his recent resurgence in form, the Nigerian midfielder will be hoping to earn a recall to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.
