Butler-Oyedeji: Tri-national striker trains with Arsenal first team at Emirates Stadium pre-Man City
Published: February 02, 2025
Tri-national striker Butler-Oyedeji was invited to train with Arsenal's first team on the eve of the blockbuster Premier League clash against Manchester City, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Manager Mikel Arteta monitored Butler-Oyedeji during the final workout at the Emirates Stadium, considering his possible inclusion in the matchday 20.
The chances of Butler-Oyedjeji making his full debut for the Gunners are minimal considering that forwards Ethan Nwaneri, Raheem Sterling, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz were also involved in the session and seemingly available for selection.
The English-Nigerian-Vincentian forward recently made his senior debut for his boyhood club, coming off the bench in the closing minutes of Arsenal's 3-0 rout of Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League on January 22.
A week later, the 22-year-old received his fourteenth call-up for a first team game as the Gunners defeated Girona 2-1 in their final league phase match.
With Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus sidelined due to injuries, Butler-Oyedeji has climbed up the pecking order of forwards, leading to his selection in Arsenal’s last four Premier League fixtures.
Reports had suggested Butler-Oyedeji might depart Arsenal in January, but it now looks like he will finish the season with the London side.
