'God saved Galatasaray' - Turkish expert reveals Osimhen put on a one-man show in win v Rizespor
Published: February 18, 2025
Galatasaray secured a hard-fought 2-1 away victory against Çaykur Rizespor on Monday, February 17, but Turkish football expert Ahmet Çakar has claimed the team was fortunate to win, crediting Victor Osimhen as the sole reason for their success.
Speaking on the BTV YouTube channel, Çakar did not hold back in his criticism of Galatasaray’s performance, stating that their display was far from convincing.
"God saved Galatasaray. They got a victory they didn't deserve. Not even one Galatasaray fan is happy with the football that was played," he said, via habersarikirmizi.com.
Çakar emphasized that Osimhen carried the team to victory, suggesting that without the Nigerian striker, Galatasaray would have struggled.
"The sole architect of the victory is Osimhen. They should pray to Osimhen. There is a serious collapse in Galatasaray."
Despite his concerns over the team’s performance, Çakar acknowledged that the win keeps Galatasaray in a strong position in the title race.
"However, despite this, 6 points and the two-way goal difference is a very serious advantage."
The victory against Rizespor sets the stage for a crucial showdown against Fenerbahçe, a match that could have major implications for the title race.
While Galatasaray fans will be pleased with the three points, Çakar’s remarks highlight growing concerns about the team’s overall form heading into the decisive phase of the season.
Including his match-winning strike against Rizespor, former African Footballer of the Year, Osimhen has recorded an impressive nineteen goals from twenty-four appearances in all competitions since his loan move to The Lion last September.
