'We always say Osimhen' - Ex-Besiktas winger names another Galatasaray player who catches the eye
Published: April 20, 2025
Former Besiktas winger Nihat Kahveci has heaped praise on Galatasaray's Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez, highlighting his contributions to the team's success this season and insisting he deserves as much recognition as star striker Victor Osimhen.
Speaking on Kontraspor's YouTube channel, as reported by habersarikirmizi, Kahveci emphasized that while Osimhen has rightly received widespread acclaim, Sanchez's performances should not go unnoticed.
"We always say Osimhen , but people look, Davinson Sanchez also catches the eye,” Kahveci said.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, has lit up the Turkish league with 29 goals and six assists in 34 matches across all competitions, becoming a fan favourite and a central figure in the club’s title charge.
However, Kahveci believes that the defensive solidity and offensive presence of Sanchez, a former Tottenham Hotspur player, have been equally vital to Galatasaray’s strong campaign.
“There is also the Davinson incident. There is height, physique, offense, technique, reading the game, playing face down, everything is there, brother.”
Sanchez has featured prominently in the heart of defense, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 36 appearances.
His performances have played a key role in keeping Galatasaray in the hunt for a domestic double this season.
With both players excelling on opposite ends of the pitch, Galatasaray fans will be hoping the duo can maintain their form as the season reaches its climax.
