'We will hear many such lies' - Ex-Turkey defender dismisses Osimhen to Fenerbahce rumours
Published: May 13, 2025
Retired Turkey international defender and Beyaz TV commentator Abdulkerim Durmaz has poured cold water on reports linking Napoli striker Victor Osimhen with a move to Fenerbahçe in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Nigerian forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has enjoyed a sensational season, directly contributing to 41 goals (33 goals, 8 assists) in 38 appearances across all competitions.
He joined the Turkish giants last September after failed moves to Chelsea and Saudi club Al-Ahli.
Reports have recently suggested that Fenerbahçe have initiated talks with the Napoli loanee and are willing to meet his €75 million release clause.
However, Durmaz has dismissed the reports and emphasized the unreliability of transfer reports as the window approaches.
"Fenerbahçe has absolutely no interest in Victor Osimhen. In fact, manager Mirsad Türkcan also denied the news about him,” Durmaz said via habersarikirmizi.com.
"As the transfer period approaches, we will hear many such lies. I don't even believe my late father. In my opinion, the things said until the transfer is signed are untrue."
Osimhen has also attracted interest from Premier League clubs, notably Chelsea, but his substantial wages—reportedly around £10 million per season—could prove a stumbling block.
Although Galatasaray are keen to retain the 26-year-old, it is widely expected that he will return to parent club Napoli in June 2025 before securing a permanent transfer elsewhere.
His prolific form has been instrumental in pushing Galatasaray to the brink of a domestic double.
