What Osimhen said after helping Galatasaray win historic 25th Turkish Super Lig title
Published: May 19, 2025
Victor Osimhen has expressed his delight after helping Galatasaray secure the Turkish Super Lig title with a 3-0 win over Kayserispor on Sunday, contributing to what he described as a ‘historic’ achievement for the club.
The Nigerian striker, who scored the opening goal in the crucial match, played a key role in Galatasaray’s dominant season, which has already seen the team win both the league title and the Turkish Cup within five days.
The 26-year-old now has 25 league goals this season and recently broke the record for the most goals scored by a foreign player in a single Turkish campaign.
Speaking to the broadcaster after the match, Osimhen shared his emotions following the victory: "I feel very happy. It is incredible to take part in Galatasaray's history and reach the fifth star. We have two matches left.
"We will look to have fun. I am enjoying the moment at the moment. I am not thinking about my future.”
Galatasaray’s triumph on Sunday took them to an uncatchable 89 points, securing their 25th Super Lig title.
The win also marked a significant milestone for the club, symbolized by the addition of a fifth star to their badge—each star representing five championships.
Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, has quickly established himself as a fan favourite at Galatasaray.
His consistent goal-scoring and selfless attitude—evident when he gave up a penalty for veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera to score in what may be his final season—have made him a standout figure in the squad.
While speculation continues over Osimhen’s future, the striker remains focused on enjoying the closing stages of a memorable season with Galatasaray, refusing to be drawn into discussions about his next move.
