Confirmed: Watford offer new deal to talented Nigerian attacker despite injury
Published: May 23, 2025
Championship side Watford have confirmed their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season, with notable decisions made at both first-team and academy levels.
In an official statement published on the club's website, the Hornets revealed that promising forward Kash Odiase has been offered his first professional contract.
The 18-year-old Nigerian was a second-year scholar last season and has been rewarded with a new deal despite suffering a serious injury that required surgery in March.
Watford's show of faith in Odiase comes after a standout campaign in which he played a key role in the club's impressive run to the FA Youth Cup semifinals, scoring in consecutive victories over Oxford United and Crewe Alexandra.
Before joining Watford as a scholar in 2023, Odiase spent time at Bromley FC and Bromley District.
Meanwhile, fellow academy player Prince Sikiru, an Irish-Nigerian forward, has been released.
The 19-year-old leaves Vicarage Road without making a senior appearance but featured for the club’s development squad during the season.
Also remaining with the club is Republic of Ireland U19 international Nickson Okosun, who has already signed a long-term professional contract running until June 30, 2029, with an option for a further year.
Among the senior players retained is Tom Dele-Bashiru, a former Nigeria U20 international.
The midfielder made 27 appearances in the Championship last season, scoring four goals.
