Russian national team coach Valery Karpin has announced a 41-man extended squad for the highly anticipated international friendly against Nigeria, set to take place on June 6 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

The squad is dominated by players from the Russian Premier League, but also features notable inclusion Matvey Safonov, the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, who headlines a five-man goalkeeper list.

The match will serve as a key preparatory fixture for Nigeria ahead of the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, which resume in September.

Nigeria currently risk missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, as they sit fifth in Group C with seven points—six points adrift of group leaders South Africa.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has called up 21 players for the fixture.

Though star names like Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi are missing from the squad, Chelle has included experienced players such as Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, and goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.

According to the Russian Football Union, fans eager to witness the clash in Moscow can now purchase tickets, with prices starting at 600 rubles (around N12,000).

However, children aged five and under will be granted free entry, provided they are accompanied by close relatives and do not occupy individual seats.
