Confirmed: Igoh Ogbu extends contract with Slavia Prague ahead of Super Eagles duty
Published: May 24, 2025
Nigerian centre-back Igoh Ogbu has signed a contract extension with Slavia Prague, securing his stay at Eden Stadium until December 31, 2027, the official website of the Czech champions confirmed on Saturday evening.
Ogbu signed a new deal with Slavia Prague just a few days before traveling to London to join his international teammates for a friendly against Ghana.
This new deal adds an additional year to his previous agreement, reflecting the club’s confidence in his abilities and importance to the team.
The 25-year-old defender joined Slavia Prague in January 2023 from Norwegian side Lillestrom and quickly established himself as a key figure in the club’s defensive lineup.
Since his arrival, Ogbu has featured in 92 matches across all competitions, contributing five goals, including one against archrivals Sparta Prague.
Beyond domestic competitions, Ogbu has also made significant contributions in European contests, scoring twice in the Europa League, emphasizing his ability to perform on bigger stages.
His consistent displays at the back have earned him not only the respect of his teammates and fans but also greater responsibility on the field.
Notably, Ogbu wore the captain’s armband for the first time during a match against Benatek nad Jizerou, symbolizing his growing leadership role within the squad.
Slavia Prague’s decision to extend Ogbu’s contract demonstrates their commitment to maintaining a solid defensive foundation with a player who combines reliability, leadership, and international promise.
