'Even if Zenit offer ₦20b' – History-making forward Olusegun pledges loyalty to Russian champions
Published: May 28, 2025
Former Nigeria U17 international Olakunle Olusegun has pledged his future to Russian Premier League champions Krasnodar, saying that he does not plan to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
The forward made it clear that even a bid from Russian Premier League heavyweights Zenit wouldn't sway his loyalty.
Olusegun etched his name into Russian football folklore on October 9, 2022, when he scored the fastest goal in Russian Premier League history, finding the net less than nine seconds into a match against Rostov.
In doing so, he shattered the previous record set by Emmanuel Emenike, who scored for Spartak Moscow in the tenth second of a 2012-13 league fixture.
Speaking about his possible departure from Krasnodar, Olusegun was quoted as saying by football24: "I can't imagine myself in another Russian club yet, because I love Krasnodar and I want to be in this team.
"Even if Zenit comes and offers €10 million (N20 billion in Nigerian currency). Krasnodar is my favorite team, and I want to stay here."
Olusegun has been playing for Krasnodar since the 2021-2022 season, following his transfer from Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv.
He reached the milestone of 100 appearances for Krasnodar in all competitions during the penultimate round of the Russian Premier League, in a match against Orenburg.
The 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup star has scored twelve times and provided eight assists since making his first team debut for Krasnodar.
