Wrexham tipped as the frontrunners to sign CF Montreal's Super Eagles forward
Published: May 28, 2025
Newly promoted Championship side Wrexham are in pole position to sign CF Montreal's Nigeria international Sunusi Ibrahim, according to GIVEMESPORT.
The Red Dragons are looking to strengthen their squad following their historic rise to the second tier of English football and have identified Ibrahim as a key target.
The 22-year-old forward, who has one senior cap for Nigeria, is believed to be high on Wrexham’s wishlist as they prepare for life in the EFL Championship.
While several clubs are understood to be monitoring Ibrahim's situation, Wrexham are said to be confident of securing his signature.
However, CF Montreal have yet to receive any formal bids for the former Nigeria U23 star, who is valued by the MLS club at between $300,000 and $500,000.
Ibrahim joined CF Montreal from Nigerian side 36 Lion FC on January 12, 2021.
Since his arrival in Canada, he has made 102 appearances across all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing five assists.
He played a key role in helping Montreal secure the Canadian Championship during his debut season.
The striker remains under contract with Montreal until the end of the 2026 season, with a club option to extend the deal through 2027.
Prior to his move to North America, Ibrahim attracted interest from Watford and even trained with the English club in the summer of 2020, but a potential transfer fell through following a managerial change.
