'I don't have a dream club' – Chelsea target chooses Netherlands over Nigeria and Togo
Published: May 29, 2025
Strasbourg's tri-national forward Emanuel Emegha has downplayed speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea, insisting he has no dream club and is focused on continuous improvement.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a potential target for the Premier League giants following a standout campaign in Ligue 1.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Chelsea are monitoring Emegha's progress but are not planning an immediate move, with the intention being for the striker to remain at Strasbourg until the summer of 2026.
A product of Sparta Rotterdam's academy, Emegha had stints at Antwerp and Sturm Graz before joining Strasbourg in the summer of 2023.
He has quickly risen to prominence, contributing 14 goals and 3 assists in 27 appearances during the 2024–25 Ligue 1 season.
In a recent interview with SUPERGAANDE's YouTube channel, Emegha spoke candidly about his ambitions at both club and international level.
"I just want to finish as high as possible. I don't have a dream club, man. I just want to get as much as possible every year," Emegha said.
"As a striker, you just have to get . Then a big club will come, I have to get there too . That's my goal, man: just get. Just get the most out of it".
Despite his strong form, Emegha was left out of the Netherlands squad for the 2025 UEFA European U21 Championship due to an injury sustained late in the season.
Eligible to represent Nigeria and Togo through his parents, Emegha has pledged his commitment to the Dutch national team, expressing confidence in his ability to make an impact at senior level.
"I believe one hundred percent that I can have an impact on Oranje. I am a different type of striker than the others.
"I do not shortchange anyone, everyone is good. I have respect for everyone."
Emegha has previously represented the Netherlands at U15, U19, U20, and U21 levels.
