'The Nigerian got angry' - Russia midfielder confesses to X-rated outburst at Osayi-Samuel
Published: June 07, 2025
Russia midfielder Danil Glebov has admitted to a heated exchange with Nigeria right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel during Friday's 1-1 draw at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
The altercation occurred in the final minutes of the match after Glebov brought down the Fenerbahce defender in an attempt to win back possession.
The challenge, which included an accidental stamp, infuriated Osayi-Samuel and led to a yellow card for the Dynamo Moscow man.
Speaking to Sport Express post-match, Glebov described the incident as a routine part of the game, and confessed to an X-rated shout at Osayi-Samuel during the scuffle.
"Not me, the Nigerian got angry. He didn’t like something. Nothing special, just a tactical foul," Glebov said.
Asked what he said to Osayi-Samuel during the altercation, Glebov admitted to using the F-word, adding that he's not really good at English.
Osayi-Samuel, who completed the full 90 minutes, will be pleased with the opportunity to impress head coach Eric Chelle ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, which resumes in September.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the month, the 27-year-old is hopeful that his recent performances for club and country have caught the attention of European suitors in the summer transfer window.
