Russia striker praised by Eric Chelle reveals why he headed to dressing room after substitution v Nigeria

Russia striker Nikolay Komlichenko has revealed the true reason he headed straight to the dressing room after being substituted in Friday evening's 1–1 draw against Nigeria in an international friendly staged in Moscow.
Tolu Arokodare salvaged a draw for the Super Eagles with a composed finish in the 71st minute, cancelling out Semi Ajayi's 27th minute own goal.
Midway through the second half, with Russia leading by a goal, Nikolay Komlichenko made way for KS Samara centre forward Ivan Sergeev.
During the broadcast of the match, cameras captured the moment Komlichenko walked straight to the dressing room following his substitution, prompting speculation about his mood and whether he was unhappy with the decision of manager Valery Karpin to replace him.
Speaking to Match TV after the match, the 29-year-old striker explained there was nothing behind the move other than a practical reason.
"Everything is fine. I was just a little tired. I went to change because my shirt was wet. And then I returned to the bench," Komlichenko explained.
Komlichenko comments put to rest any rumours of frustration, confirming it was simply a matter of comfort after a demanding spell on the pitch.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Nigeria manager Eric Chelle singled out Russia's number 9, Nikolay Komlichenko, for special praise, describing him as the most impressive Russian player in the friendly.
Following their draw with the Super Eagles, Russia now shift focus to their upcoming friendly against Belarus, scheduled for June 10 in Minsk.
