Man Utd to benefit financially from Oyedele's imminent move to Chelsea's sister club
Published: July 12, 2025
Legia Warsaw midfielder Maxi Oyedele is on the brink of sealing a move to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, a club closely affiliated with Chelsea, according to Polish outlet Męskieki.pl.
The 20-year-old is expected to leave the Polish capital next week, just a year after joining Legia from Manchester United.
Strasbourg are reportedly prepared to activate his €6 million release clause, which will see United receive 40 percent of the fee due to a sell-on clause inserted in last summer's deal.
Born in England to a Polish mother and a Nigerian father, Oyedele has already made two senior appearances for the Polish national team.
However, under FIFA eligibility rules, he remains eligible to switch allegiance to Nigeria, having not yet crossed the threshold of three competitive caps before the age of 21.
The defensive midfielder is set to undergo medical tests next week before the deal is finalised.
His omission from Legia’s squad for their UEFA Europa League qualifier against FC Aktobe on Thursday further fueled speculation over his impending departure, with manager Edward Iordanescu opting to leave him out entirely.
A product of Manchester United’s academy, Oyedele featured in five UEFA Conference League matches for Legia last season, registering one assist.
