Done deal: Super Eagles centre-back Osho swaps Auxerre for League One club Cardiff City

Through the official website, EFL League One club Cardiff City have confirmed the signing of Nigeria international Gabriel Osho from French Ligue 1 side Auxerre on a permanent deal, subject to international clearance.

The 27-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Bluebirds, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2029, for an undisclosed fee.

Osho spent a single season at Auxerre, scoring once in 23 appearances, before opting for a move back to England.

At Cardiff, he reunites with manager Brian Barry-Murphy, under whom he previously worked at Rochdale during the 2020-21 season.

A product of Reading's academy, Osho joined Luton Town in 2020 and quickly became a key figure.

He was instrumental in the Hatters' promotion to the Premier League in 2022-2023 and went on to make 21 top-flight appearances the following season, scoring twice, including his first Premier League goal in a home fixture against Arsenal.

During his early career at Reading, where he spent 12 years, Osho gained experience through loan spells at Maidenhead United, Aldershot Town and Bristol Rovers.

On the international stage, the Reading native became provisionally cap-tied to Nigeria on November 14, 2024, starting in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin, and earned his second cap four days later against Rwanda.
