'Everyone knows that' – Chukwueze hails AC Milan coach Allegri as serial winner and master tactician
Published: August 01, 2025
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has showered praise on AC Milan's newly-appointed manager Massimiliano Allegri, branding him a "serial winner" and "great tactician" following the Rossoneri's emphatic 9-0 pre-season victory over Australian side Perth Glory on Thursday.
Chukwueze, who was among the scorers in the friendly, delivered a standout performance and netted Milan's fifth goal in the 31st minute.
The Nigerian international latched onto a perfectly weighted pass after a darting run into the box and smashed home with his preferred left foot.
Speaking to the club's media team post-match, Chukwueze did not hold back in his admiration for Allegri, who returned to Milan this summer after leaving Juventus.
"Coach Allegri is a great coach, everyone knows that; he's won a lot in his career," Chukwueze said, as quoted by Milan News. "And being here now, he wants to win trophies with Milan too."
The winger emphasized Allegri's hands-on style and tactical sharpness, praising his understanding of both the players and the game.
"He's a great coach; he knows what he wants. He works with the players, he knows how to interact with them, he knows what the players want and what he needs," Chukwueze added.
"He's a great coach, both defensively and offensively. We just have to keep working with him and try to do what he asks of us.
"You can't do things your own way; you have to listen to the coach. If we do that, we'll get results."
Chukwueze's comments come at a critical juncture in his Milan career. Since his move from Villarreal in 2023, the 26-year-old has struggled for consistency, failing to fully establish himself under previous managers.
His patchy form has fueled speculation over a possible exit, with reported interest from clubs in Spain and the Premier League.
However, the arrival of Allegri could mark a turning point. Known for his man-management and tactical flexibility, the Italian coach may be the key to unlocking Chukwueze's full potential in Serie A.
With the 2025/26 campaign fast approaching, Chukwueze will be hoping to turn the page and make a fresh impact under Allegri's guidance, if he remains at the San Siro beyond the summer transfer window.
